Santa Maria Relay For Life - 2006

For the second year in a row, Kirk & Simas' attorneys and staff (along with many spouses and friends) teamed up to donate their time and money to participate in the 2006 Santa Maria Relay for Life. As with past events, at least one member from each team must be walking on the track for the event's entire 24 hour duration. Walkers are supported by sponsors and all proceeds are donated to cancer research.

Each year has a theme, and 2006's theme was the Viva Las Vegas! Many people were in costumes and as you can see from the pictures, an appearance was made at the Kirk & Simas booth by Elvis himself.

For several weeks before the event Kirk & Simas had a "Jeans on Friday" promotion allowing staff and lawyers to buy the right to wear jeans with a donation to the cause. Between that and a larger number of walkers and sponsors, we were able to nearly double our donation to the fight against cancer. 

All who participated had a great time (even those scheduled to walk at 3:00 a.m.).

Through an increased number of teams, sponsors and donations, the Santa Maria Relay for Life's 2006 event raised over $340,000!
